1. Adamas – Best for Convenience & First-Time Visitors

Adamas (or Adamantas) is the main port town of Milos and the island’s transportation hub. It offers easy access to ferries, public buses, and car rentals, making it an excellent base for exploring. With a vibrant atmosphere, numerous restaurants, cafes and souvenir shops, and a variety of accommodations, Adamas is a great choice for first-time visitors.

The main bus stop is here, so travelers not renting a car but are hoping to explore the whole island will want to stay in Adamas Milos. The bus stop is located close to the Gregory's cafe. While waiting for the bus, you can also take a note of their posted schedule. Taking the bus is a great way to visit other beautiful spots and towns of Milos.

Also note that if you are planning to stay during shoulder season, we find that most restaurants and shops are open in contrast with Plaka and Pollonia.

2. Pollonia – Best for a Romantic & Relaxing Getaway

Pollonia is on the northeastern coast of Milos. Plenty of travelers stay here for a peaceful retreat and traditional accommodations. There are several beachfront accommodations within walking distance to excellent seafood restaurants and beaches in Pollonia.

We really enjoyed how walkable the town is compared to other spots in Milos. You can head from the beach to the harbourfront restaurants in minutes without having to dodge traffic. All stays will be steps from the beach. And many diving and other boat tours are accessible from its docks.

Things to Do in Pollonia Milos

  • Enjoy fresh seafood at one of the waterfront tavernas.
  • Visit the ruins of the ancient Phylakopi settlement.
  • Try wine tasting or tours in a cave at Kostantakis Winery - the only winery in the island.
  • Take a boat tour to the nearby island of Kimolos.

3. Plaka – Best for Traditional Charm & Sunset Views

Plaka, the island’s capital, is a hilltop village with narrow alleys, whitewashed houses, and stunning sunset views. Stay here and discover Milos’ history and culture, with easy access to historical sites and scenic viewpoints.

If you're looking to stay within the iconic white and blue Greek houses and explore the narrow streets, Plaka is the place to find them. Plaka is situated high on the mountain, which means you'll be able to see panoramic views of the entire island from here; our favourite view of Milos by far. There's plenty of do within walking distance as well.

You can easily get to Plaka by public bus. If you prefer driving, note that there is a big public parking space and you are not able to park or drive around the main town.

Things to Do in Plaka Milos

  • Hike up to the Venetian Castle for panoramic views of the island of Milos and surrounding islands.
  • Watch the sunset from the famous Panagia Korfiatissa church.
  • Walk to Trypiti to see the Ancient Theatre and the Catacombs of Milos.

Klima is a picturesque fishing village famous for its colorful “syrmata” houses, which were once used by fishermen to store their boats. Staying here offers a unique and serene experience right by the sea.

Your stay here will have excellent views of the bay and the impressive mountains on the opposite end of Milos. You have a relaxing harbourfront stay away from the hustle and bustle, but are walking distance from Tripiti and even Plaka for more things to do.
