If you're looking to do several tours, booking a hotel in La Fortuna main town will be the most convenient. If you have a car and want to explore on your own, or if you want to simply relax within the rainforest, then a nature resort will be the best. Finally, if you want to enjoy the hot springs, at least a night or two at a La Fortuna hot spring resort is a must.

La Fortuna Main Town Hotels

First category on our list are the main town hotels. As mentioned, La Fortuna hotels in the city center are the most convenient for getting around, as well as accessing restaurants. If you plan to do several tours you'll want to be based in town for pickup and departure. Public transit options from main town will also allow you to access several of the best areas of La Fortuna without a car.

Best La Fortuna Hotels

Socialtel La Foruna (formerly Selina Hostel) is without a doubt the best La Fortuna hostel. The shared outdoor space, featuring a pool and bar, is always lively. This is certainly the place to stay for anyone looking to meet fellow travelers.

Tico Bed & Breakfast is a small, locally owned vacation rental. The friendly service, healthy breakfast and terrace views of Arenal Volcano make this one of the best hotels in La Fortuna.

Poshtel Arenal is one of the few spots with a pool just steps from the central park in town. Poshtel offers a fancier stay and incredible location for a very reasonable price.

Hotel Alicia offers a traditional hotel experience, one of the few hotels in La Fortuna to do so. Clean, modern rooms, and free breakfast; you can't go wrong.

Hotel Secreto La Fortuna offers premium rooms as well as a pool. Great for those who want a quiet, peaceful night while remaining within walking distance of town.

Villas Fortuna Boutique is the highest rated stay in the neighboring settlement. Walking distance to coffee and chocolate tours, as well as bars and restaurants, this part of town is great for those wanting a quieter stay with the convenience of being near civilization.

La Fortuna Nature Resorts

La Fortuna has numerous hotels within the rainforest. These stays are for nature lovers who want to escape the hustle and bustle and surround themselves in nature. Travelers will often spot monkeys, sloths, toucans and scarlet macaws right outside their windows.

Casa Torre Eco-Lodge is the most affordable Eco-lodge hotels in La Fortuna with excellent reviews. This place is an absolute bargain for what you get, and you'll feel surrounded by nature.

Arenal Observatory Lodge is the best choice for hikers. One of the few stays located within the national park, in a remote stretch of rainforest between Arenal Volcano, Chato Volcano and Lake Arenal, nature lovers will love this spot. Their comfortable rooms and pool are great to after a day of adventure.

La Fortuna Hot Spring Hotels

If La Fortuna is famous for one thing, it's the hot springs. Arenal Volcano looking over the town is to thank. Spending a couple relaxing days in a hot spring hotel in La Fortuna is a favourite of many travelers.

Baldi Hot Springs one of two most popular hot springs hotels in La Fortuna. This hot spring hotel has a party-like atmosphere, and is surely the best choice for families or couples who are looking for activities and water-slides.

Tabacón Thermal Resort & Spa is the next largest and most popular La Fortuna hot spring. This 5-star hotel offers a luxurious spa, fitness center, and numerous pools.

Luxury & Boutique Hot Spring Hotels in La Fortuna

Nayara Gardens is a premium 5-star resort with luxury rooms, private pools, and incredible views of the volcano.

The Springs Resort & Spa at Arenal may be the single most premium resort in La Fortuna. The favorite hotel in La Fortuna for celebrities who visit.

Arenal Manoa Resort & Hot Springs is an intimate 4-star hotel offering private rooms and pools for a fair price.

The Royal Corin Thermal Water Spa & Resort is a beautiful 5-star resort featuring hot spring pools, restaurants, and free breakfast.

We'd recommend splitting your trip with two separate bookings. Start with a few nights at a hotel in La Fortuna's main town or within the surrounding rainforest, depending on if you have a rental car or are planning to do tours.
